Mohandas K. Gandhi was born in October, 1869 in Western India and was killed by an assassin in January, 1948 at the age of seventy-nine. Throughout most of his life, Mohandas worked to bring an end to injustice through non-violent means and was given the name Mahatma (Great Soul) by the people of India.

"We must be the change we wish to see" are the words of Gandhi and the Peace Diaries axiom or "self-evident truth." Every action we take, no matter how small it may seem, has an impact on our self and someone else in the world. Think of a pebble dropped into a pond, a fist raised in anger and a smile. Energy creates a ripple effect that can destroy or heal. Have no doubt that we can change our own lives and the lives of others. It’s up to us to decide what we will do and by what means.

The Peace Diaries Web site is a place where we come together to learn about each other and collaborate on projects to affect change in our lives. This is the very first, or world premiere, of the Peace Diaries. Today the Web site provides ideas and tools to collaboratively write a book on peace. In future days, the Web site will offer additional ideas and tools to fill the Peace Diaries digital library with our words and wisdom to help us and others understand one another and end suffering in the world.

Thank you for peace.
